A-50EI AWACS to be bought by India from Russia

India defence online reports that the Indian Air Force has started negotiations for 9 more A-50EI aircraft from Russia. The plan is to acquire 3 of the A-50EI aircraft under the main contract with another 6 in an option.
Part of a trilateral contract between India, Russia and Israel formalised in October 2003, the recent negotiations seem promising. As a part of the contract for the supply of the A-50EI aircraft, Russia is represented by the firms Beriev, Ilyushin and Vega while Israel is represented by ELTA Electronics Industries, which supplies the Falcon radar for the aircraft.
