New Russia-India Biotech Network Pact

A Russia-India Biotech Network (RIBN) agreement has been signed to help encourage an alliance between Russian and Indian biotech companies. The agreement was signed and exchanged by Prof. Raif Vasilov, the President of Russian Biotechnology Society and CEO of Russian Biotechnology Association, and Dr. B.S. Bajaj, Convenor of Bio-Asia 2011 and Secretary of Federation of Biotech Associations (FABA). The agreement is expected to be operational by February 2011.

Chief Minister, Mr K. Rosaiah, said that this agreement will be very constructive in helping to develop cross- border collaboration between the two countries. The Chief Minister also announced the 8th edition of Bio-Asia, the global business forum, which will be held in February 2011 also. It is hoped that this Bio-Asia forum will also aid in developing growth in the biotechnology sector.

The Chief Minister added that the State understands the importance of biotechnology sector and has and will continue to provide the best possible conditions for its growth. This will be done by providing the necessary infrastructure and to encouraging biotechnology companies by offering them incentives.
